John Deere recently introduced a new model in its popular Gator utility vehicle product line: the diesel-powered XUV 875M Gator, which has 22.8 horsepower (16.7 kilowatts) and an increased cargo capacity of 454 kilograms (1,000 pounds). It comfortably seats up to three people (for off-road use only) and has a fully independent suspension. The Gator XUV 875M will become available to dealers in spring 2025.

John Deere UTV Cargo Box Enhancements

The John Deere fitted the XUV 875M with a wider cargo box with 13% more space than its XUV 865M model. The new cargo box has a reimagined tailgate with a flat work surface that serves as a mobile workbench. You can also cut round wooden posts or plastic or metal pipe in the tailgate’s V-groove, with metric and imperial measurements and bump stops to assist you.

"The redesigned cargo box on the Gator XUV 875M is a very significant improvement, offering more space and functionality for our customers,” says John Deere Product Manager for Gator Utility Vehicles and Compact Utility Tractors in Europe, Peter Nelder. “The added width and integrated clamping points provide users with greater flexibility and convenience, making it easier to carry and secure a variety of items."

Other useful features of the Gator’s cargo box include a 12-volt SAE power port, multiple divider slots, stake pockets, and fold-flat tie-downs. The box also has cup holders, pockets, and an optional second level of storage.

    XUV 875M Specifications

The updated, independent rear suspension of the Gator XUV 875M has tuned shock absorbers and 229 millimetres (9 inches) of travel. The 203 mm (8 in) of travel in the front end’s independent suspension pitches in to help tame rough terrain.

John Deere relocated the engine’s air intake 300 mm (11.8 in.) higher where the air is a bit cleaner. A new air intake and exhaust system for the Gator’s continuously variable transmission (CVT) similarly works to keep out debris, water, and mud. The fuel tank of the XUV 875M holds 42.4 litres (11.2 gallons) of diesel fuel.
